Overview of Nepal PG Medical Entrance Exam
The Medical Education Commission Entrance Examination (Nepal PG Medical Entrance Exam) is known as MECEE PG. The exam schedule for this year has been published. It is a common entrance exam used in Nepal for providing admission to postgraduate medical programs. The Nepal Medical Education Board administers the national level MECEE PG exam.
Indian students have to qualify the MEC entrance examination to take admission in their dream medical college in Nepal. MECEE results are used to determine MD MS admission in Nepal along with the other PG medical courses. There are 200 multiple-choice questions on the exam paper, with a maximum score of 200. If the applicant wishes to apply for more than one program, they must pay the fees separately for each program online through the application portal or with bank vouchers. Information on seat distribution will be posted on the website later.
When completing the online application form, candidates should select only one of the two subcategories, which means subcategory I is Foreign to appear MECEE PG 2025 and Subcategory II is Foreign Not to appear MECEE-PG 2025 but choose to apply conditionally if you scored higher than the 50th percentile (or 50% if the results are in percentages) in the most recent MEC-approved national level common entrance exam for each of their nations.
Sub-category II: Only seats that remain unfilled following a merit-based selection procedure from Sub-category I candidates may be chosen by foreign candidates who choose not to appear.
Latest Update About MECEE PG 2025
The Medical Education Commission (MEC) is accepting online applications in order to choose applicants for the following postgraduate health professions programs that are provided by different medical institutions and universities in Nepal.
Applications with the required fee must be submitted by eligible foreign nationals (Subcategory I: Foreign to appear and Subcategory II: Foreign NOT to appear) via the web portal at https://entrance.mec.gov.np between December 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM (NPT) and December 22, 2024, at 4:00 PM (NPT). A double price may also be paid to submit an application between December 22, 2024, after 4:00 PM (NPT), and December 29, 2024, at 4:00 PM (NPT).

Eligibility Requirements for MECEE PG Exam 2025
Students who are participating in the MECEE PG entrance exam in Nepal must have certain qualifications in order to be admitted to top medical colleges in Nepal. The following lists the MECEE requirements. Kindly read it carefully.
A Medical University-recognized MBBS degree, BDS degree or its equivalent is required of those interested in applying.
Candidates must have finished an internship within a year after finishing their coursework. It’s required.
For Indian students and other overseas students, candidates must be registered with the NMC or Medical Council of India. They need to be permanently or provincially registered with their respective countries’ medical councils.
How to Apply for MECEE PG exam 2025?
The steps involved in setting up an online profile and submitting an application:
Step 1- Create A profile online or Login:
Applicant must visit the official website of the Medical Education Commission Entrance Examination – Official Website
When creating their profiles, candidates who applied for the previous year’s common entrance exam will need to use their previously used username and password.
Previous applicants must update their information. New applicants must fill out the following application and create an online profile.
First, candidates should set up a profile with their password and email address. Additionally, this profile can be used later on if necessary.
The applicant must visit the website at https://mec.gov.np, select the Online Application button, and then click the Login button to begin filling out the application. Choose Don’t have an account? from the login screen. Click the “Register here” button.
A different option is to go to https://entrance.mec.gov.np and select Don’t have an account? Register by clicking this link. To create a user account, click the Foreign radio choice under Nationality, then enter the applicant’s full name, email address, password, and confirm password. Finally, click the Register button.
The email address provided while creating the user account will receive a message requesting email ID verification. The email address will be checked and enabled following the completion of the verification link and connecting into the registered account.
The candidate must enter their registered email address in the User Name field and their password, which was created during registration, in the Password field in order to log in.
He or she must log in to the account, click the Resend button, and confirm the email address using the previously described procedure if the email verification message is not received in the registered email.
Step 2- Application fee Payments & Generate the Transaction Code:
Go to the main Homepage after logging into the Common Entrance Examination’s online application portal.
The applicant must create a “online profile” before completing the online form.
The applicant must click the Make Payment option to pay the required amount in order to create their profile. Then the list of academic programs will show. The candidate must choose the program or programs based on their eligibility by checking the box next to the preferred programs.
Below the academic program table, the total amount payable will be displayed. The applicant must click the button for the payment method they choose to use in order to pay the cost.
In order to continue, input the last six digits of the transaction number (TRN) and the phone number that was provided during the transaction in the Update counter payment voucher option if the cash was submitted at the Himalayan Bank Limited counter.
Step 3- Submit the Personal & education Details:
The candidate must enter their personal information and click the Save and Proceed button after paying the cost and selecting the Basic Information menu.
Click the Save button after entering your educational information in the Qualifications section. Applicants from other countries can bypass the Experience selection.
The Professional Council section should be filled out by foreign applicants. In the Reservation menu, choose the tick next to the Foreign category.
Step 4- Select the Foreign Category:
When completing the online application form, the candidate should select only one of the following subcategories-
- Sub category (i) – Foreign to appear
- Sub Category (ii) – Foreign NOT to appear
Students must save the information with documents after entering all of the information.
Before submitting the form, the candidate has the option to add or edit the documents and details. In the future, applicants can utilize this profile to complete the application.
Step 5- Application form submission:
After completing the application, the required paperwork must be uploaded and the self-declaration completed. It is recommended that the application be reviewed, edited, and saved prior to submission. The application cannot be changed after it has been submitted.
Select the Submit Program Application option in the Dashboard menu after uploading all the papers containing personal information. Then, select the View Details button to verify all the information.
Click the Homepage menu’s Submit Program Application button, then click the Apply option to submit the application. Once the information has been verified, click the Save and Submit Information option to submit the form.
Step 6- Download the Application form:
Candidates are advised to simply “save” the information at the initial stage just in case the applicant needs to review it. Once the form has been submitted, no information can be changed.
The option to download the application form will become available when you click the Submit Program Application button. Download the application form for future use.
Documents required for MECEE PG 2025
- The last six digits of the transaction reference number (also known as the transaction code, request unique ID, or TRN)
- Mobile number of the candidate (for bank counter payments).
- A recent passport-sized photo of the Candidates.
- Scanned copy of an E-Adhaar card or passport.
- Scan copy of Applicant’s Signature
- Scanned copies of the applicable bachelor’s degree or equivalent certificates and transcript.
- Scanned copy of the relevant nation’s Professional Council registration certificate.
Requirements of applicant’s photo and scanned documents:

- Image file format: The picture needs to be in high-quality JPEG format.
- Size of the image file: 200 KB (kilobytes) is the maximum size for an image file.
- Resolution: It shouldn’t be unclear or scratchy.
The applicant’s Certificate or Documents
- Image file format: The certificate should be in PDF or JPEG format.
- Size of the image file: 200 KB is the maximum size for an image file and 500 KB is the maximum size for the PDF documents.
- Resolution: It shouldn’t be blurry or scratchy.
Important Note:
Subcategory I candidates who participate in the Medical Education Commission’s entrance exam will be given preference when it comes to open house matching for international seats. The opportunity to choose those seats based on merit will be closed if the seat is still open following the merit-based selection procedure from Subcategory I candidates from Subcategory II (Foreign NOT to appear).
Following the completion of the foreign candidate matching process, the remaining seats will be paid seats for Nepalese candidates.
Original documentation must be submitted at the time of admission by foreign applicants who are accepted.
Applicants who submit false information or documents risk legal prosecution in accordance with Nepal’s current laws and regulations.
MECEE PG Exam Pattern 2025:
Many international students, especially those from India, are currently studying for MDs and MSs in Nepal. Although there are many medical schools offering postgraduate medical education, two well-known ones are Tribhuvan University-Institute of Medicine and B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. These institutions offer seats recognized by MCI and are included in the WHO’s World Directory of Medical Schools.
One must be familiar with the syllabus and exam paper format in order to pass the entrance exam.
- ‘Single best response’ multiple-choice questions will comprise 200 of the test. For every right response, one mark will be awarded, and for every incorrect response, 0.25 marks will be subtracted.
- The examination will take three hours to complete.
- To be on the merit list, candidates must score in the 50th percentile or higher.
- The open house matching method will be used to choose the candidates.
Publication Admit Card and Exam Center:
The admit card will be available online five days prior to the day of the admission exam.
The candidate needs to log into their online profile, choose the Application menu on the dashboard, choose the View information option, and then click the Download Admit Card link in order to print the admit card, which must be displayed during the entrance exam. Candidates must adhere to all instructions on the admission card.
Details of the exam center and some other details regarding exam will be included on the admit card. The admit card must be a color photocopy.
Important Instruction for participating in the entrance exam
- As specified in the online form, the candidate must bring their admit card and original identification (a passport or E-Aadhaar card) to the testing location.
- At least two hours before to the test, candidates should arrive at their designated testing locations.
- In the examination room, jewelry, ornaments, and electrical devices or accessories will not be permitted.
- Even pens and stationery are prohibited for candidates. The black gel pen that is available in the test room is what candidates are expected to use.
MECEE PG 2025 Results
Nepal PG Entrance examination results will be announced by the exam conducting authority on its official website. The candidates’ exam scores and rankings are included in the results. Nepal will base postgraduate admissions on the qualifications of the applicants. Visit the official website and enter your ID and password to view the results.
Open House Matching for Sub Category (ii) – Foreign Not to Appear
The Medical Education Commission will release the list of available seats, the rank of eligible candidates, and the Open House Matching schedule for Foreign Sub-category II (NOT to appear MECEE-PG 2025) candidates who have conditionally applied for the remaining foreign seats. These are determined by the candidates’ scores in their respective countries’ national level entrance exams for MD MS programs in Nepal.
Regarding Nepal PG Medical Entrance Exam Matching:
- Matching will only be conducted once if there are less merit applicants compared to seats available for international applicants.
- Every academic program will have its own merit list. However, his or her name will be removed from all matching processes once they have been matched and admitted to an academic program.
- Original documentation must be presented by candidates when they are matched and admitted to the university or institution.
- During the residency, private practice is prohibited.
- All travel arrangements will be the responsibility of the candidates.
- Applicants must follow the current guidelines established by the Nepali government.
All rights pertaining to the entrance exam are reserved by the Medical Education Common Entrance Examination Committee.
MECEE PG Counselling 2025
Medical Education Common Entrance Examination counselling process will be started after the publication of the results by the Nepal Education Board. The shortlist of students will be determined by their rank and merits. It is probable that counseling sessions will take place in August or October. Candidates who have the short list must participate in the counseling session. Carry all of your original documents with you, including your mark sheets, admit card, any required certificates, transfer certificates, etc.
